And before turning those off, the game warns you that you will lose 2 units when the amount you lose can be much higher.Download the new Google Chrome for your iPhone and iPad. A notable one that springs to mind is that if you complete quests and take additional soldiers and forts as rewards, those rewards go away if you turn off the Dry Storage or Encampment. (Though it's interesting from a mechanical standpoint, I still find it strange that upon ascending you are rewarded with the rarer black tokens for killing more people in your civilzation and not less.)īug-wise, the game is in good shape, but there are a few here and there. I'm sure there will be more interesting things in the final version, but increases on clicking power and (very small for the cost) increases in starting gold do not excite. The ascendance rewards feel very generic now compared to the last revision. Every other quest generally has something that is good for you as an outcome vagrants are not good for you. Missionary quests have a risk of war while they're going on and they force you to take large amounts of vagrants afterwards, which is a double whammy on risk. Quests that reward food boosts make it difficult to manage the population of the city because the game doesn't let you stop food from increasing the population. We now have ways to merge or sell every kind of hero, which is good, but we still need a way to refuse rewards. (Moses was in the game previously, but he is a multidenominational figure in Abrahamic religions.) I'm not offended by this myself, just wanted to make you aware. The Tower of Babel as depicted here is distinctly biblical in nature there are variants on the myth of Babel which span across various religions, but this one veers toward the Christian bible. The inclusion of the Babel Tower, as well as some of text, like "You are not in Gods' favor" during the storm effect, may offend some. Maybe there should be a hard limit to the floors.) That said, if you have an achievement like Stairway to Heaven or somerhing for getting x number of floors in the Tower, I could see some use - but against most people will only pursue it one time for that achievement. (Side note: the graphics for the Tower stop evolving somewhere around level 15-17 if I recall correctly, and it's a little weird to keep building it with no visual change. (I've only been able to build up to level 37.) Getting the Tower to level 15 gives you Bruegel, but his only purpose is in getting the Tower higher, which again does nothing for you. It's nice for a challenge mode or bragging rights, I suppose. Each floor you build just makes the game harder with no benefit. Apart from the ability to ascend from falling, which you get at level 1, the Tower doesn't give you anything but trouble. Speaking of the Babel Tower, I love this idea thematically and the graphics (taken from Bruegel's masterpiece) are great but the execution is just flat. Even though the Tower appears to max out at 120% risk in all categories, Bruegel still can't hope to keep up. Bruegel is mostly useless even for building the Tower since his 1% reduction per Tower level does not come close to keeping up with the Tower's risk increases. I use him the entire game but to be honest, most non-unique square heroes don't bring a lot to the table. Let him stun disasters with Dogmatism or something at least. Nationalism is one of the worst philosophy bonuses. The base damage he adds is nothing spectacular compared to rare heroes, and he lacks any unique ability. The unique heroes have been toned down a little (Moses is still extremely useful for 90% of the game) which is probably for the best, but in so doing, Ozymandias has basically become useless. (As of right now, I think I've gotten all I can get out of this version.) Having played all of the versions of the Playtest/Demo that have been released so far, I can definitely say this is my favorite of them, but it's not without some areas that could use addressing.
